Welcome to Cambodia! Upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is free to relax after your flight. You might take a walk along the Tonle Sap riverside promenade, soak in the local energy at the night market, or sample traditional Khmer dishes like fish amok and beef lok lak.

Today, dive into the capital’s rich history and culture. Start with the Royal Palace, where glittering spires and classic Khmer architecture house Cambodia’s current monarch. Visit the adjacent Silver Pagoda, known for its floor made of pure silver tiles and its sacred Buddha statues. Continue to the National Museum, home to a priceless collection of Khmer art and sculpture dating from pre-Angkorian times. In the afternoon, take a sobering but essential journey into the country’s recent past at Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), followed by the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, a powerful memorial to the victims of the Khmer Rouge. Return to the city for an optional stroll along Sisowath Quay.

After breakfast, leave Phnom Penh and drive northeast through the scenic countryside to Kampong Cham. Along the way, observe rural life—lush rice paddies, palm trees, and water buffalo dot the landscape. Upon arrival, visit the Kizuna Bridge, one of Cambodia’s longest bridges spanning the Mekong River. Explore Wat Nokor, a unique 11th-century temple built from sandstone and later integrated with a modern pagoda. In the afternoon, take a peaceful bike ride along dirt paths through the countryside, visiting small villages and meeting friendly locals who maintain a traditional way of life.

Today is a scenic overland journey to the highland province of Mondulkiri, known for its rolling hills and cool climate. Depart Kampong Cham and pass rubber plantations, red dirt roads, and winding mountain routes. As you approach Sen Monorom, the main town in Mondulkiri, the air cools and pine trees begin to appear. Stop at roadside viewpoints and local markets. Upon arrival, check in and take a short orientation walk to stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Spend an immersive day in nature with a community-based elephant sanctuary. Learn about the conservation efforts of this ethical project that rehabilitates elephants and protects the forest. Begin a soft jungle trek, walking alongside elephants as they forage and bathe in rivers. Enjoy a picnic lunch by a waterfall, where you can cool off with a refreshing swim. Learn how the sanctuary promotes sustainability and supports local tribal communities. Return to Sen Monorom in the late afternoon with time to relax or visit the local market.

Set off this morning to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Mondulkiri. Drive through hilly terrain to the spectacular Bou Sra Waterfall, a powerful multi-tiered cascade set in a forested landscape. Stop at Phnong minority villages along the way to learn about indigenous traditions, spiritual beliefs, and agricultural practices. You'll see how traditional stilt houses are built and may have the chance to sample local products such as wild honey or jungle herbs. End the day with panoramic views over the rolling hills before returning to town.

Descend from the highlands through scenic mountain roads to Kratie, a relaxed town on the banks of the Mekong River. Upon arrival, take a local ferry across to Koh Trong Island. Cycle through its peaceful rural landscape, lined with fruit orchards, pagodas, and traditional stilt houses. This is a perfect place to interact with locals and observe everyday life on the Mekong. Return to the mainland before sunset and enjoy a quiet evening walk along the river promenade.

After breakfast, head southwest toward Kampong Thom, passing through rural villages and scenic landscapes. Arrive in the early afternoon and enjoy a laid-back atmosphere along the Stung Sen River. This is a great place to unwind and observe local life, or take an optional short bike ride through the riverside neighborhoods.

Begin the day by visiting the remarkable Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex, an early Khmer capital with more than 100 pre-Angkorian brick temples hidden among forest trails. This peaceful UNESCO site is rarely crowded and offers a mystical experience. Continue your journey north to Siem Reap, arriving by afternoon. Settle into your hotel, explore the town center or shop for handicrafts at the old market.

Rise early to witness the sunrise at Angkor Wat, a magical and unforgettable experience. Spend the morning exploring this architectural masterpiece, with its towering spires, intricate carvings, and grand galleries. Continue to the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom and marvel at the Bayon Temple, famous for its dozens of serene stone faces. In the afternoon, visit Ta Prohm, a temple left largely in its natural state with tree roots engulfing its walls. End the day with a panoramic sunset view from Phnom Bakheng Hill.

After breakfast, venture to Tonle Sap Lake through the floating villages and flooded forests. This eco-adventure offers insight into the daily lives of lake communities. Return to Siem Reap with time to relax at your hotel or enjoy a traditional Apsara dance performance.

Depart for Battambang, a charming colonial town known for its art scene and laid-back vibe. En route, stop at villages that specialize in stone carving and pottery. Upon arrival, ride the quirky Bamboo Train, a fun local experience across the countryside. In the evening, explore the riverside promenade and enjoy the relaxed pace of this cultural hub.

Explore the surrounding countryside by bicycle, riding past rice fields and rural villages. Visit Phnom Sampeau, a limestone hill housing pagodas and a cave memorial to victims of the Khmer Rouge. Learn how local families make traditional products such as rice paper, dried bananas, and fermented fish paste. Engage in conversations with artisans and farmers for a deeper understanding of rural Cambodian life.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before the drive back to Phnom Penh. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for a last visit to a local market or a short stroll along the city’s boulevards. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight, concluding your journey through Cambodia's wild and wonderful landscapes.
